This prestigious award recognises outstanding initiatives and/or individuals that create meaningful connections with their local communities across Australia.
The Christie Barbecues Community Engagement Award celebrates businesses and individuals who go beyond typical industry operations to foster genuine relationships, create positive impact, and contribute to the wellbeing of the communities in which they operate.
Nominations must be submitted online prior to Monday 28 April 2025, 5pm AEDT.
Purpose
The award recognises the dedication, innovation and leadership of industry members committed to fostering authentic connections, creating shared value, and delivering meaningful impact to their local communities.
By providing a platform to recognise these remarkable contributions, the award aims to inspire others in the industry to engage in community betterment, strengthen bonds between industry operators and their local communities, and celebrate initiatives that create meaningful social, environmental and economic impacts across Australia.
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees for this award must demonstrate excellence in one or more of the following areas:
- Creating innovative programs that connect the caravan and camping industry with local communities.
- Supporting local charities, events, or community groups through industry resources.
- Programs that celebrate and preserve local heritage, indigenous knowledge, and local storytelling.
- Implementing employment or skills development programs for local community members within the industry.
- Responding to community needs during challenging times (natural disasters, economic hardship, etc).
- Long-term dedication and consistent involvement in community service activities.
- Collaborative approaches to address community needs and challenges through industry participation.
- Initiatives that promote environmental awareness, conservation practices, and sustainable outcomes beyond commercial interests.
Self-nominations are welcome, or you may nominate a project/initiative/activity or individual for this award.
Please note that nominations should focus on an individual’s contributions or a specific community-based project/initiative/activity, as opposed to general organisational /business activities.
Judging Considerations
Once nominations have closed, a selection panel will consider all eligible entries and select a winner. The selection panel consists of industry and community representatives and will assess the following, as relevant, for each application:
- Significance and impact of contributions made.
- Demonstrated level of commitment to the betterment of the community.
- Degree of difficulty of the achievement and sacrifices made.
- The ability of the initiative/person to foster meaningful connections between the industry and local communities, demonstrating vision, inspiring wider community engagement, and showcasing leadership in creating positive local impact.
Prize
The winner of the Community Engagement Excellence Award will receive:
- Up to $3000 to further develop their community initiative.
- OR $3000 donation made in their name to their community partner organisation.
- OR $3000 towards undertaking a personal development course relating to social and community development.
- Invitation to participate in next year’s award judging process.
- Award trophy.
